Belg Loic Vliegen z drużyny Wanty – Groupe Gobert odniósł bardzo ładne zwycięstwo na drugim etapie wyścigu Tour de Wallonie i został nowym liderem klasyfikacji generalnej. W pierwszej dziesiątce nie było Polaków.

Drugi etap wyścigu Tour de Wallonie 2019 prowadził z Waremme do Beyne Heusay i liczył 170,4 km. Na uwagę zasługuje zwłaszcza druga część trasy, która zawierała w sobie kilka krótkich podjazdów. Także na metę prowadziła krótka, nieoznaczona ścianka.

Ucieczkę dnia stworzyło sześciu kolarzy: Nicolaei Brochner (Riwal Readynez), Kenneth Van Rooy (Sport Vlaanderen – Baloise), Tom Wirtgen (Wallonie-Bruxelles), Corne Van Kessel (Telenet Fidea Lions), Émiel Vermeulen (Natura 4Ever) oraz Lars Boom (Roompot Charles).

Sekstet wyrobił sobie maksymalną przewagę nad peletonem wynoszącą około trzech minut i został doścignięty 32 km przed metą.

Peleton znacząco podkręcił tempo na górskiej premii Cote de Salve, na której problemy mieli między innymi kolarze CCC Team – Paweł Bernas i Jakub Mareczko.

15 km z powodu wielu prób ataków i nadal wysokiego tempa peleton podzielił się na dwie grupy. W pierwszej znalazło się 41 zawodników.

Z pierwszej grupy zaatakował Miles Scotson z drużyny Groupama-FDJ i 4 km przed metą miał kilka sekund przewagi. Po chwili kontratakował Loic Vliegen i Belg zdołał odnieść samotne zwycięstwo na kresce w Beyne Heusay.

Dla drużyny Wanty jest to drugie zwycięstwo z rzędu w tym wyścigu. Przypomnijmy, że wczoraj triumfował Timothy Dupont.

Do drugiego etapu Wyścigu dookoła Walonii nie przystąpił Tomasz Marczyński. Drużyna Lotto-Soudal poinformowała za pośrednictwem mediów społecznościowych, że Polak miał w nocy gorączkę i nie spał.
