Młody Francuz, Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) został triumfatorem pierwszego etapu Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda by Bergamasca. Najlepszy z Polaków, Marek Rutkiewicz (CCC Polsat) na 29 pozycji.
Przez większość pierwszego etapu „Bergamaski” o długości 177 kilometrów uciekało 17 zawodników, nie było wśród nich żadnego z kolarzy z Polkowic. Ostatecznie ucieczka została skasowana na ok. 40 kilometrów przed metą.
Na linii mety z mocno porwanego peletonu najszybszy okazał się Thibaut Pinot (FDJ), który o 19 sekund pokonał Simone Stortoni (Colnago – CSF Inox) oraz o 27 sekund Davide Rebellina (Miche – Guerciotti). „Rutek” był 29, a Jacek Morajko 30. Obaj stracili ponad 2 minuty.
Andre Schulze nie ukończył wyścigu, Tomasz Kiendyś, Mateusz Taciak i Rafał Ratajczyk nie zmieścili się w limicie czasu.
Wyścig składa się z czterech etapów, jutro najdłuższy z nich – 199 kilometrów.
Przypomnijmy, że w ubiegłym roku zwyciężył Michele Scarponi, a trzeci był Przemysław Niemiec. Dziś obaj kolarze rywalizują w hiszpańskiej Vuelcie.
