Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) podtrzymuje znakomitą passę w Amgen Tour of California. Słowak wygrał już trzy etapy z rzędu! Dziś po raz trzeci pokonał Heinricha Haussler`a (Garmin-Barracuda) oraz Toma Boonena (Omega Pharma – Quick Step).

Do ucieczki na 185,5 kilometrowym etapie z San José do Livermore, zabrali się: Vennell (Bissel), Marentes (Colombia-Coldeportes), Salas (Kelly Benefit) oraz McCarty (Spidertech). Niestety pomimo ich wielkiego wysiłku, zostali skasowani na 25 kilometrów przed metą.

Chwilę później znajdował się kilkukilometrowy podjazd. Zaatakowali tam Fabio Duarte (Colombia-Coldeportes) oraz Nicolas Roche (Ag2r), jednak na ich niekorzyść, w peletonie zbyt mocno pracowały ekipy Garmin-Barracuda i Liquigas-Cannondale. W takim wypadku o wszystkim znów zdecydował sprint.

Po szóste zwycięstwo w sezonie sięgnął więc Peter Sagan. 22-letni Słowak wyprzedził Hausslera oraz wracającego po odpoczynku Boonena. Ubiegłoroczny zwycięzca Tour de Pologne, umocnił się również na fotelu lidera amerykańskiej etapówki.
