Zwycięstwem Adamy Blythe (Aqua Blue Sport) zakończył się wyścig Elfstedenronde. Podium uzupełnili Hugo Hofstetter (Cofidis) oraz Coen Vermeltfoort (Rompoot).

Belgijski klasyk, zgodnie z tradycją, prowadził po trudnych, lokalnych, brukowanych drogach w samym sercu Flandrii. Cały odcinek liczył niecałe 200 kilometrów i kończył się w Brugii.

W ucieczce dnia, po długiej walce, znaleźli się dziś David van der Poel (Corendon), Jerome Baugnies (Wanty – Groupe Gobert), Jens Reynders (Leopard), Jordi Meeuws (Belgia), Guillaume Haag (T.Palm), Kenneth Vanbilsen (Cofidis) oraz Dries Lehaen (Pauwels sauzen). Ich przewaga nie urosła jednak do niebotycznych rozmiarów, gdyż z tyłu wszystko pod kontrolą starali się trzymać kolarze ekipy sprinterów.

Co ciekawe, dość szybko ucieczka została złapana, co od razu pozwoliło innym zawodnikom wziąć się za ataki. Swoich sił próbowali m.in. Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon), Pieter Serry (Quick – Step Floors) czy Jens Keukeleire (Lotto Soudal). Ostatecznie doszło jednak do finiszu z peletonu.

W nim najlepszy okazał się Adam Blythe (Aqua Blue Sport), który pokonał faworyzowanego Hugo Hofstettera (Cofidis) i Coena Vermeltfoorta (Rompoot). Dość nieoczekiwanie poza podium wyścig zakończył Fabio Jakobsen (Quick – Step Floors).
